Waimakua Drive closed, 900 lose power when utility pole falls
About 900 customers in Mililani lost power when a utility pole came down on Waimakua Drive in Mililani just after midnight this morning.
A Hawaiian Electric Co. spokesman said crews restored service to nearly all customers by 2 a.m.
Honolulu police closed Waimakua Drive between the 95-225 and 95-240 addresses as crews continue work on replacing the downed pole.
The Waiala Street access to Waimakua Drive is also closed.
Darren Pai, a HECO spokesman, said repairs may not be completed until this afternoon. A few customers will not get their electricity back until the repairs are completed.
HECO is investigating what caused the pole to fall.
