A 12-inch water main break has closed the Ewa-bound lanes of Dillingham Boulevard from Kokea to Kohou streets, and both sides of Kohou Street between Kamualii Street and Dillingham Boulevard, the Honolulu Police Department said at about 2:30 p.m.

Ewa-bound traffic on Dillingham is being detoured to Kokea Street.

It’s unclear how long the closure will last. Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.

Repair work is expected to continue over Monday night and possibly into Tuesday morning, a BWS spokesman said. No customers have lost water as a result.
