Wahine volleyball brings it home
Anyone who’s followed the University of Hawaii volleyball Wahine this season, or caught the seven seniors’ dance routine on Senior Night, knows this team has a winning chemistry that’s hard to beat.
So it’s exciting that the Wahine will be back before hometown fans this weekend, hosting a subregional bracket of the NCAA Volleyball Championship. Hawaii, the tourney’s 11th seed, will face Idaho State on Friday night; the winner will advance to Saturday’s match against Brigham Young or Arizona State. "We’re home, it’s just huge," said senior Ashley Kastl. "We have our fans, have our whole support system behind us. Everyone in Hawaii is with us, I mean everyone." That’s just about right.
For Warriors, the ultimate victory
How can a single victory in a 12-game football season seem so sweet?
As one disappointing loss followed another — some games just agonizingly shy of victory — the University of Hawaii Rainbow Warriors found themselves struggling not just for victory, but for vindication. Surely they were better than this.
So the 49-42 win over Army on Saturday represented more than the avoidance of a goose-egg season; it was a dramatic victory for hope and perseverance against long odds.
That’s what makes the game worthwhile, and why we’ll be back next season. Go ‘Bows!
