Hawaii County fire investigators are trying to determine the cause of an early Thursday morning fire that caused $70,000 worth of damage to a three-bedroom home in Pahoa.

When firefighters responded to a 2:30 a.m. alarm in the 15-2700 block of Nehu Street in Pahoa, they found that the fire had consumed one of the bedrooms in the 1,300-square-foot home.

The fire was brought under control by 3:01 a.m.

Nine people lived in the Pahoa home. No injuries were reported.
