The Medical Examiner’s Office has classified the death of University of Hawaii football player Jack Willis Wilson III as accidental due to drowning.

Wilson’s body was recovered in waters off Sandy Beach Nov. 30 after he was reported missing at 4:30 a.m. His body was found at around 8 a.m.

Wilson, 21, was among a group of three men and two women who were wading in shallow water when his friends noticed him missing.

Wilson was born in Pearl City and raised in Washington state. He was a walk-on running back at the University of Washington for three years before transferring to UH this past summer.
