Chris Kirk got the most out of his Saturday round to shoot a 5-under 65 for a 54-hole total of 198 to take a one-shot lead going into tomorrow’s final day of the Sony Open in Hawaii.

Kirk made a tricky birdie putt at the last to put a little separation from him and a tightly packed field that has 26 golfers within five shots of the lead. Little-known Will Wilcox, playing in only his third PGA Tour event, is tied for second with Harris English at 11-under 199.

Wilcox’s 64 was the best round of the day for the 27-year-old tour rookie. English shot a solid 67 to to join Kirk and Wilcox in Sunday’s final group.

Jimmy Walker had a couple of bogeys down the home stretch to drop to 10 under for the event after carding a 67. Jerry Kelly, who won this event in 2002, is also at 10 under after firing a 66 for his third round in the 60s this week.

"It feels good to be at the top," Kirk said. "I got the most out of my round. I didn’t leave much out there today."

There are seven golfers just three shots back, including past Sony Open champ and Zach Johnson, Retief Goosen and Robert Allenby. Even John Daly got into the act today, shooting a 64 to match the best round to drop him to 7 under. He is currently tied for 18th and had one of the larger, more vocal galleries on the flat Waialae Country Club course.
