Kona weather continues today, more rain coming Thursday

A lingering storm system northeast of the islands is still close enough to bring showers to the state. It's also bringing moist, southwest winds.

The National Weather Service says the muggy Kona weather is expected to continue today, but we should have fewer showers as a weather system that brought heavy rain to the Big Island and showers to Oahu moves away.

The direction of the winds, from the southwest rather than the southeast, may reduce some of the vog from Kilauea.

Another weather system to the northwest is expected to move down the island chain on Thursday, bringing rain to Oahu Thursday night through Friday.

Trade winds should return Friday after the system passes.

Another weak weather system could change the winds again and bring some showers Sunday and Monday.
