Four people are homeless and one left injured after a fire engulfed their Mililani home Saturday night.
The blaze was first reported at 8:48 p.m. Arriving firefighters saw flames that had engulfed about half of the wooden structure and initiated a "rapid attack," according to Honolulu Fire Department spokesman Capt. Terry Seelig.
The house is a "total loss" with damages estimated at $250,000, Seelig said.
Firefighters took quick action to contain the rapidly spreading fire that ravaged a three-bedroom single-family home on Waipono Place.
The fire was brought under control by 9:11 p.m.
A male occupant in his 60s suffered second-degree burns to his hands, legs and face, according to Emergency Medical Services radio transmissions.
A second occupant was reported to be in the home but multiple searches did not find any evidence of another person, Seelig said.
The cause is under investigation.
