A 22-year-old Kalihi man has been charged with allegedly kidnapping a 16-year-old boy at gunpoint.

Police said the suspect, Sunia Faaofonuu, took out a gun and threatened a 16-year-old boy and 19-year-old woman on Kealoha Place near Kuhio Park Terrace in Kalihi at around 3:15 p.m. Tuesday.

When he took off with the boy, the woman called police.

Police located the boy and the suspect at a Kam IV Road address. Police also recovered a handgun which they believe was stolen in a burglary.

The suspect was charged with kidnapping, first-degree theft, extortion using a firearm and three firearms violations. His bail was set at $150,000.
