Waikiki, downtown crime sweep nets 137
Honolulu police arrested 137 people and issued more than 200 citations during an overnight sweep of high-crime areas in Honolulu.
The sweep, which began at 8 p.m. Friday and continued until 5 a.m. Saturday, covered areas of downtown Honolulu and Waikiki that generate the most complaints.
Most of the arrests were for outstanding warrants, driving under the influence of an intoxicant and drug-related offenses.
Some 208 citations were issued for jaywalking, minor traffic offenses and park rules violations.
The ages of those arrested ranged from 18 to 69.
