Big Island under flood advisory


A flood advisory is issued for the Big Island until 4:30 p.m. Saturday after radar images showed heavy rainfall across the island.

At 1:30 p.m., radar images showed heavy rain falling around Honokaa, Waipio Valley, Waikoloa Village and Pahala.  Isolated heavy showers are likely across the rest of the Big Island for the rest of the afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

The rain is expected to stick around for the rest of the afternoon.

Residents are advised to stay away from streams and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
