UFC’s Ronda Rousey to fight Alexis Davis in July

Ronda Rousey looked around after defeating Sara McMann in a UFC 170 mixed martial arts women's bantamweight title bout in Las Vegas on Feb. 22. Gina Carano was scheduled to meet with UFC President Dana White on Wednesday to discuss a return to mixed martial arts for a potential bout with bantamweight champion Rousey.
LAS VEGAS » UFC bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey will return to the octagon against Alexis Davis at UFC 175 on July 5.
UFC President Dana White announced the matchup in a post on his Twitter account Friday night.
Rousey (9-0) is arguably the UFC’s biggest star, and she is the only 135-pound women’s champion in the mixed martial arts promotion’s history.
She defended her title last December and again at UFC 170 in late February before taking a break to resume her acting career.
White had discussed matching Rousey against former MMA star Gina Carano next if she made a comeback with the UFC.
Davis (16-5) is unbeaten in three fights since joining the UFC last year. The 29-year-old jiu-jitsu black belt beat Jessica Eye by split decision at UFC 170 in February.
