A 31-year-old man, who fled Oahu just before being charged with murder, pleaded not guilty to the fatal stabbing of a homeless man in Kailua three months ago.

Robert Roediger-Geauque, 31, who has no local address, entered a not guilty plea before Circuit Court Randal Lee on Monday. His criminal trial is slated begin the week of June 16, before Circuit Court Judge Karen Ahn.

He was extradited to Hawaii on April 5 after his arrest in Santa Barbara, Calif., on March 6.

An Oahu grand jury indicted Roediger-Geauque on March 11 for murder in the death of Scott MacMillian. His body was found beneath a stairwell in a building on Uluniu Street near Cinnamon’s Restaurant in Kailua on Jan. 13. Macmillan, a Kalaheo High School graduate, was former chef at Lucy’s Grill & Bar and Island Fusion. The Medical Examiner said MacMillian, 37, died of multiple stab wounds.

Roediger-Geauque remains in custody at the Oahu Community Correctional Center, unable to post $5 million bond on the murder charge.
