3 more people arrested in sweepstakes machine case

Police on Monday arrested three of nine people indicted last week on gambling and related charges stemming from sweepstakes gaming machines.

They are scheduled to appear in court 8:30 a.m. Thursday in Circuit Court.

Quinton Canencia, 33, was arrested on four counts of misdemeanor promotion of gambling, one count of felony promotion of gambling, one count of illegal ownership of business (racketeering) and five counts of possession of gambling device.

Desiree Haina, 36, was arrested on six counts of misdemeanor promotion of gambling, two counts of felony promotion of gambling and eight counts of possession of gambling device.

She and Canencia were released on $50,000 bail each.

Michael Miller Jr., 40, was arrested on four counts of illegal ownership of a business, three counts of money laundering, 11 counts of misdemeanor promotion of gambling, three counts of felony promotion of gambling and 12 counts of possession of gambling device. He was released on $200,000 bail.
