Motorcyclist, 35, dies after collision on Kaukonahua Road

A police car blocks Kaukonahua Road in Wahiawa as Traffic Division officers investigate a fatal motorcycle crash Sunday afternoon.

A 35-year-old Honolulu man died Sunday after the motorcycle he was operating crashed on Kaukonahua Road in Wahiawa.

According to police, the motorcycle was traveling north at a high rate of speed when the man apparently loss control. The motorcycle ran onto a grassy median, ejecting the driver, who then slid into an oncoming car.

Neither of the two occupants of the car was injured.

The incident occurred around 3:31 p.m.

The motorcycle rider was transported in extremely critical condition to Wahiawa General Hospital, where he died.

Police closed Kaukonahua Road from Wilikina Drive to Kamananui Road for about three hours while an investigation was conducted.

This was the 27th traffic fatality on Oahu versus 30 at the same time last year.
