Body recovered in waters off Waikiki

Honolulu police blocked off a beach access at the Diamond Head end of Kalakaua Ave. as they investigated the discovery of a body in the water Wednesday morning.
Honolulu police blocked off a beach access at the Diamond Head end of Kalakaua Ave. as they investigated the discovery of a body in the water Wednesday morning.
A man in his 50s died in shallow water near the Diamond Head area of Waikiki Beach Wednesday morning.
A Honolulu Fire Department official said a surfer reported finding the victim at 6:07 a.m. in two feet of water off a portion of Waikiki Beach fronted by residential homes.
Paramedics responded to the area at the Diamond Head-end of Kalakaua Avenue and pronounced the victim dead at the scene at 6:19 a.m.
An autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death.
