Jordy Nelson’s contract includes $14.2 million of guaranteed money.

GREEN BAY, Wis. >> The Packers signed receiver Jordy Nelson immediately after their first training camp practice Saturday morning.

"Jordy’s a great player and a great ambassador for the organization," coach Mike McCarthy said after practice. "Everyone is excited about it. I was just made aware of it on the field. He’s so consistent. He’s the ultimate pro"

According to NFL Network, Nelson agreed to a four-year, $39 million contract that includes $14.2 million of guaranteed money. The signing bonus is a little more than $11 million, the league’s network reported.

Niners RB Hunter tears ACL

SANTA CLARA, Calif. >> The 49ers said Saturday that backup running back Kendall Hunter tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his right knee during Friday’s practice, ending his season before it began. Hunter started training camp where he has been most of the last three years: as the No. 2 running back behind Frank Gore.

The injury leaves LaMichael James, rookie Carlos Hyde and rehabbing Marcus Lattimore as the most likely candidates to fill the void in San Francisco’s running game.

Colts’ Ballard has torn Achilles

ANDERSON, Ind. >> Colts running back Vick Ballard has a torn Achilles tendon and will need season-ending surgery, the team said.

It’s the second straight year Ballard suffered a freak injury in practice without being touched.

Last September, he tore the ACL in his right knee while making a cut in practice and missed the final 15 games.

He made it through Thursday and most of Friday before he was injured on another innocuous-looking play — falling down as he tried to catch a pass without a defender in the vicinity.

Panthers RB Gaffney out for the year

SPARTANBURG, S.C. >> Panthers rookie running back Tyler Gaffney will have season-ending surgery after tearing the lateral meniscus in his left knee.

Gaffney was Carolina’s sixth-round draft pick out of Stanford and was expected to provide some depth in the backfield.

Panthers coach Ron Rivera said after practice that Gaffney will have surgery next week and will be placed on injured reserve.

Rivera said Gaffney injured his knee in Friday night’s Fan Fest while attempting to make a cut. The inury did not appear to be significant at first.

Jets S Pryor might have concussion

CORTLAND, N.Y. >>Jets safety Calvin Pryor, the team’s first-round draft pick in May, was being evaluated for a concussion after injuring his head during special teams drills Saturday.

Coach Rex Ryan said Pryor was hurt when he collided with a teammate while serving as a punt protector.

Cowboys LB McClain at practice

OXNARD, Calif. >> Cowboys linebacker Rolando McClain was on the practice field Saturday, a day after he was convicted and sentenced to 18 days in jail. He’s free while the case is appealed to state court.

"Yesterday I was sitting in a courtroom not knowing what was going to happen," said McClain. "Today I’m here with the Dallas Cowboys with an opportunity to make a football team and fight for a position. You can’t argue with that."

Injured hammy sidelines Bills TE Moeaki

PITTSFORD, N.Y. >> Bills tight end Tony Moeaki is out indefinitely with a hamstring injury.

Coach Doug Marrone said Moeaki will miss a "significant" amount of time, but likely won’t miss the remainder of Buffalo’s training camp.
