University of Hawaii wide receiver Devan Stubblefield will miss the 2014 season after being diagnosed with a torn ACL and meniscus, UH officials announced today.

Stubblefield was projected to start at wideout this season.

This is the third setback at receiver for the Warriors in the past two weeks. Wideout Keith Kirkwood requested — and received — a release from his scholarship to remain near his family on the East Coast. Wideout Vasquez Haynes is scheduled to undergo surgery on his right shoulder on Friday and also will miss the 2014 season.

Stubblefield is a 2014 Saint Louis School graduate who excelled in both football and baseball. He was expected to play for the UH baseball team in the spring.

The 6-foot, 185-pound receiver was an all-state selection as a senior with 861 yards receiving and 12 touchdowns in 2013.

“It’s unfortunate and we feel so badly for the young man,” head coach Norm Chow said in a statement. “He was one of our top prospects and we really felt he could help us this season. He still promises to be an outstanding player for us and we wish him a full recovery. It’s just a bump in the road and someone will need to step up.”
