Brown water advisory issued for Hawaii County
A brown water advisory is issued Saturday for Hawaii County due to Hurricane Iselle.
This is definitely not the time to be recreating in Hawaiian water, says health officials.
The health department said although the flood and storm water runoff may not be brown, the public is advised to stay out of flood waters and storm water runoff due to possible overflowing cesspools, sewer manholes, pesticides, animal fecal matter, dead animals, pathogens, chemicals, and associated flood debris. Turbid water runoff have been known to attract sharks due to possible dead animals being washed into the ocean.
