Reg Baker, the chief financial officer of Hawaii Medical Assurance Association, the health insurer formerly known as Hawaii Management Alliance Association, is resigning on Sept. 1.

The company gave no reason for his resignation. Baker, also executive vice president and chief operating officer, made $177,750 last year.

He didn’t immediately return a call for comment.

HMAA executive chairman John Henry Felix will temporarily fill the CFO and COO positions. Honolulu attorney Bill McCorriston was named HMAA president earlier this year.

The company, which insures small and mid-sized businesses, has 40,000 members.
