Motorcyclist who died near Middle Street overpass identified

The Medical Examiner’s office has identified the 26-year-old Ewa Beach man who died Sunday when he lost control of his motorcycle and  hit the metal guardrail on the H-1 Freeway as Nathan Varner.

Police said the man was changing lanes in the Ewa-bound direction when he lost control of his 2013 Harley-Davidson Wide Glide  motorcycle on the H-1 freeway below the Middle Street overpass at 3 a.m.

He was wearing a helmet, but sustained major head and internal injuries and was taken to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition where he died.
