Police have released from all charges the 47-year-old man suspected of attempting to kill three police officers in Wahiawa and Mililani by driving towards them with his car.

However, he remained in police custody for parole violation.

The man faced attempted murder charges and numerous other offenses, after allegedly accelerating his car toward the officers who approached him in Wahiawa 11 a.m. Wednesday for several traffic offenses.

Police said he hit one officer, causing substantial bodily injuries and caused another to jump out of the way.

The officers pursued the vehicle to Mililani where the man turned into oncoming traffic and crashed into a light post.

The car broke down and stopped on a nearby street.

When the man got out of his car and tried to flee, officers arrested him.

Police said he got combative and caused substantial bodily injury to one officer and bodily injury to another.

Police arrested the man 13 minutes after the initial stop on suspicion of first-degree attempted murder and other offenses and his juvenile female passenger on unrelated charges. The charges against the man were released pending investigation.
