Police marked the roads on School St. and Lusitana St. in Punchbowl where an officer was hit
Honolulu police have opened an attempted murder investigation after an officer was struck by a driver of a stolen vehicle who fled the scene early Sunday morning.
It happened in the Punchbowl area on Lusitana Street between Puowaina Drive and Huali Street at about 2:20 a.m.
Officers stopped the suspect for driving a stolen vehicle when the driver struck the officer and drove away.
Paramedics took the 30-year-old officer to the hospital in serious condition.
Police reopened Lusitana Street by about 4:30 a.m.
