The 46-year-old suspect in a seven-year-old cold case murder was scheduled to be extradited to San Diego Thursday morning to face charges that he killed his wife.

Honolulu police officers arrested Anthony Simoneau, who lives on Makaloa Street, Sept. 4 on Sand Island Access Road.

The San Diego District Attorney charged Simoneau with killing his Japanese-born wife, Fumiko Ogawa, 41, in 2007.

He faces a maximum of 25 years to life in prison, if convicted of murder.

Simoneau has been held in Oahu Community Correctional Center.

On Sept. 8 Simoneau waived extradition in state Circuit Court.

During the brief extradition hearing Simoneau said: “I look forward to my day in court in San Diego and proving these charges erroneous.”

Ogawa’s skeletal remains were  found in the Anza-Borrego Desert State Park by a couple traveling along a desert road to the Bow Willow Campground on Jan. 20, 2007, but she was not identified until a DNA match in 2011. 

Simoneau never reported his wife missing, according to authorities.
