Salt Lake man rescues boy who falls six stories down chute
A 29-year-old Salt Lake man Monday rescued an 8-year-old boy who fell six stories down a trash chute in an apartment building on Ala Ilima Street.
Dan Kaetsu said the boy’s 13-year-old aunt asked for help in getting the boy out of the trash chute.
After falling six stories onto trash piled about two stories high, the boy apparently landed on his head.
Kaetsu said he broke the glass fire hose box, and sent it down the chute until the boy said he had it. He then pulled him up to the eighth floor where they live.
Kaetsu said the boy suffered a laceration to the top of his head and cuts on his arm, feet and possibly hurt his hand.
