Flood advisory canceled, but afternoon showers possible
A flood advisory for Kauai expired at 8 a.m. after heavy rains over the southern half of the island eased Tuesday morning.
However, the National Weather Service is forecasting more rain Tuesday, especially over Kauai and Oahu, as as a passing weather system moves over the islands and the hot, humid weather and light winds causes rain clouds to form over interior areas.
Cooling tradewinds should begin to return Wednesday and moderate trades are expected on Thursday through the weekend.
Forecasters warn people in the flood advisory area to stay away from streams, drainage ditches and low-lying areas prone to flooding.
The rain can also create hazardous driving conditions.
People should not cross fast-flowing or rising water in vehicles or on foot.
