Woman in crosswalk hit by 2 vehicles in Lihue

Two vehicles hit a 60-year-old woman crossing Rice Street fronting the Bank of Hawaii in Lihue Tuesday morning, Kauai police reported.

The woman was in a marked crosswalk at 6:15 a.m., when a Toyota Tacoma truck, heading west, hit her, police said.

The man in the Tacoma truck stopped to help the woman, when a second vehicle, also traveling west, struck the pedestrian, police said.

The second vehicle is described as a full-sized, dark-colored SUV, Kauai police said.

The 60-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene. Police have not yet released her identity.

Police closed Rice Street fronting the Lihue Civic Center to investigate the fatal traffic crash and reopened the road at about 8:50 a.m.
