A 73-year-old man has died Friday night after he was struck by a car in Kalihi on School St. and Houghtailing St.

The driver of a 1994 Toyota Corolla, a 56-year-old woman, was traveling westbound on School St. when she struck the man around 11:45 p.m.

The man sustained head and body injuries and was transported to Queen’s Medical Center in critical condition, where he died.

Police do not believe speed and alcohol were factors in the collision.

Police said this is the 50th traffic fatality this year compared to 45 last year.

Police closed School Street in both directions while they investigated the crash and reopened the road by about 2:30 a.m.
