Waimanalo man charged with assaulting officer at bus stop
Police have charged a 21-year-old Waimanalo man who allegedly assaulted a police officer at a Kailua bus stop on Saturday.
According to police, officers responding to a disturbance at a Keolu Drive bus stop about 6:10 p.m. were trying to arrest the suspect when he struck an officer in the legs, injuring the officer.
The suspect, identified as Robert Cortes, was charged Sunday evening with second-degree assault on a law enforcement officer, second-degree terroristic threatening, third-degree criminal property damage, and disorderly conduct. His aggregate bail was set at $7,000.
