Washington state man’s body recovered from waters off Maui
An 80-year-old man was pronounced dead Sunday shortly after he was seen in distress in waters just North of Black Rock in Kaanapali, Maui.
Police identified the man as Alva Sanders, of Kennewick, Wash.
Police said Sanders appeared to be in distress at about 12:10 p.m. and was brought to shore.
Two surf ski paddlers brought Sanders in from about 100 yards offshore. UFO Parasailing provided a Zodiac to assist.
Attempts to revive Sanders were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
