University of Hawaii outside linebacker TJ Taimatuia was named the Mountain West Conference’s defensive player of the week on Monday.
Taimatuia made 11 tackles, including one for negative yards, in the Rainbow Warriors’ 13-0 football victory over San Jose State this past Saturday.
It was the Warriors’ first road victory since Oct. 29, 2011, a span of 17 road games.
The Warriors face UNLV on Saturday in the final home game of the season.
