Hawaii County police identify body found in Waipio Valley
Hawaii County police have identified the body found in Waipio Valley on Sunday as 22-year-old Lindsey Nickerson of Kailua-Kona.
An autopsy performed Tuesday found Nickerson died of asphyxia due to drowning.
Nickerson got separated from a tour group of 25 hiking in Waipio Valley.
She was last seen alive Saturday afternoon.
Fire Department personnel discovered a female body at 2 p.m. Sunday near a tea house after finding Nickerson’s belongings near the Hiilawe River.
