2 pedestrians hit in accidents in Kaimuki, Waikiki

Traffic Division officers investigate a pedestrian accident in Waikiki Tuesday night.

Honolulu police investigated two pedestrian accidents in East Honolulu that sent a woman in her 30s and a 29-year-old man to the hospital with serious injuries.

At 9:15 p.m. in Kaimuki, a motor vehicle driven by a 68-year-old man struck a 29-year-old man crossing Waialae Avenue at 17th Avenue.

Paramedics took the man to the hospital in critical condition.

Police closed Waialae Avenue between 16th and 17th avenues while Traffic Division officers investigated the crash.

Police said speed and alcohol do not appear to be factors in the crash.

Earlier in the evening, a woman in her 30s was seriously injured Tuesday when she was struck by a vehicle in Waikiki, a spokeswoman for the Emergency Services Department said.

An ambulance took her to a trauma center in serious condition, said spokeswoman Shayne Enright,

Police investigated it as a critical accident.

Police closed Seaside Avenue between Aloha Drive and Ala Wai Boulevard shortly before 6:26 p.m. while officers investigated the accident, and reopened the roadway at about 8:41 p.m.
