Grand jury indicts man in Maui shooting death
WAILUKU >> A 39-year-old Kaunakakai has been indicted on a second-degree murder count in the May shooting death of a man on Maui.
The Maui News reports Jeffrey Kalani Davis also was indicted on charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, prohibited possession of a firearm and keeping a firearm in an improper place.
He’s being held on $1.2 million bail.
Davis is charged in the death May 20 of Koshari Kahikili of Mapulehu, who was last seen alive leaving a party at about 3:30 that morning.
He was intoxicated and with another man.
A moped rider at 6:45 a.m. saw Kahikili lying motionless on a dirt roadway off Kamehameha V Highway. He had been shot in the head with a small-caliber weapon.
