2nd suspect in L.A. patrol car shooting arrested
LOS ANGELES » A second person has been arrested in connection with a shooting in which Los Angeles police officers came under fire.
KNBC-TV reports 19-year-old James Brooks was wanted in Sunday’s shooting and was arrested Wednesday by federal agents in Las Vegas.
An FBI spokeswoman confirmed the arrest but referred all questions on charges to the LAPD. An LAPD spokeswoman was unable to provide any information.
Prosecutors say the two officers drove their patrol car into the line of fire last weekend in a tough area of Los Angeles where gang members were shooting at rivals in another car. Authorities were initially concerned the officers had been ambushed just days after two New York City officers were killed.
No one was injured after one of the unidentified officers returned fire.
Eighteen-year-old Christopher Taylor has also been charged in the case.
