Investigators: Unattended candle may have caused Kilauea fire
An unattended candle may have been the cause of a fire that occurred at a two-story home in Kilauea on Kauai Saturday night.
The fire occurred at about 9:40 p.m. when a neighbor heard a fire alarm and smelled smoke, according to a news release from the Kauai Fire Department. Fire crews extinguished the fire at 10:25 p.m.
Damage from the fire are estimated at $70,000, according to officials.
No one was home at the time of the fire.
