Man arrested in student’s stabbing near UC Santa Barbara
SANTA BARBARA, Calif. » An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of stabbing a University of California, Santa Barbara student during a fight in front of a fraternity.
The Santa Barbara County Sheriff’s office says a university police lieutenant who was patrolling the Isla Vista student enclave early Saturday spotted the fight and four people who were covered in blood.
The four people were detained and one, Kevin Ruiz of Reseda, was arrested on suspicion of stabbing the student in the chest and head.
Authorities said the student was taken to a hospital for treatments to his injuries. Ruiz had minor wounds to his hands.
He was booked into jail for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon.
