KULA >> Maui police say a man with a gun jumped over the counter of a Longs Drugs pharmacy and stole an undisclosed amount of a powerful painkiller.

Maui police say the suspect entered the Kula store just before 8:30 p.m. on Monday. He walked to the pharmacy section and jumped over the counter into the pharmaceutical dispensing area.

Police say the man then brandished a black handgun, pointed it toward the pharmacist and demanded "oxys" or oxycodone. The pharmacist didn’t resist.

The suspect is about 5 feet 5 inches tall and weighs about 150 pounds. He was wearing a dark hooded, long-sleeve sweater, brown baseball cap and camouflage shorts.

Anyone with information on the identity of the suspect is asked to call Maui police.
