Pediatrician accused of hiding camera in patient restroom
MERCED, Calif. » A Northern California pediatrician has been arrested for allegedly placing a remote camera inside a patient restroom and possessing child pornography.
Merced police say Dr. Carlos Teran Miranda was arrested Tuesday as he approached a Golden Valley pediatric clinic in Merced where he worked and where the remote camera was found.
The Merced Sun-Star reports the investigation began Friday after a woman discovered the camera hidden inside a flower arrangement inside a unisex restroom and alerted police.
Merced Police Lt. Matthew Williams says detectives searched the 35-year-old doctor’s home and found child pornography.
Police didn’t say whether patients were victims of child pornography or whether the images found in Miranda’s possession came from the camera inside the bathroom.
