Paramedics transported a woman in her 70s to the hospital in critical condition after she was found unresponsive in the waters off Waikiki Beach on Sunday.

According to Shayne Enright, an Emergency Medical Services spokeswoman, bystanders found the woman unresponsive approximately 15 yards off shore around 11:30 a .m. in waist deep water by the big banyan tree in Waikiki near the 2C lifeguard station.

Ocean Safety performed CPR on the woman until EMS took over.

The woman is a visitor, Enright said.
