Rain washed out the University of Hawaii softball team’s opening game in the Outrigger Resorts Spring Fling Tournament on Wednesday.

The Rainbow Wahine trailed Oregon State 3-0 in the top of the third inning when the rains came and the game was called after 35 minutes. The game goes into the books as a cancellation and will not be made up.

Weather permitting, three games are scheduled for Thursday with UH (12-8) slated to play Longwood at 6 p.m.

Oregon State rallied for four runs in the top of the seventh in a 7-3 win over Longwood in the tournament’s opening game. The Beavers rolled the momentum into the UH game.

Lovie Lopez led off the third inning with a home run to right field off of UH starter Kanani Aina Cabrales. Ya Garcia followed with a double and scored on McKenna Arriola’s double to the gap. After a single, Hannah Akamine dropped a single into shallow right to score Arriola from third. The Beavers had runners on first and third with two out when the teams were called off the field.
