Hawaii’s Dusty Payne placed equal third at the Oakley Lowers Pro on Saturday in Lower Trestles, Calif.
Brazil’s Filipe Toledo defeated him in Saturday’s semifinals in San Clemente, Calif. Despite posting a 8.10 ride (out of a possible 10), Payne was left needing a 9-point score to win.
He takes home 65,000 qualifying series points and a 10th position on the rankings.
