Hawaii sweeps UC Riverside to complete 6-0 road trip
Hawaii completed its first 6-0 road trip under head coach Mike Trapasso with a 9-2 win over UC Riverside on Saturday to finish off its third Big West series sweep.
Shortstop Jacob Sheldon-Collins had his third three-hit game in two weeks and finished 13-for-21 on a road trip that resulted in Hawaii’s record climbing to 21-26 overall and 12-9 in conference play.
Kyle Von Ruden (2-3) became just the third reliever Hawaii used all trip and threw 5 1 /3 scoreless innings of three-hit ball to earn the win at Riverside Sports Complex in Riverside, Calif.
Sheldon-Collins finished with three RBIs and Alex Sawelson went 2-for-5 and drove in two runs.
Chayce Ka’aua was 2-for-3 with a walk and scored a career-high three runs.
Stephen Ventimilia singled, scored twice, stole a base and drove in two runs and Marcus Doi and Alan Baldwin had two hits apiece.
