A 25-year-old man died in a single-motorcycle crash Sunday on Maui.

Maui police identified the motorcyclist as Chevis Pacheco Carlos, of Pukalani.

The crash happened about 1:50 a.m. on Kahekili Highway near Puuohala Road in Wailuku.

Police said Carlos was driving a 2006 Kawasaki ZX-6R motorcycle south on Kahekili Highway when he failed to negotiate a curve and struck a guardrail.

Carlos, who was wearing a helmet, died at the scene.

He was the fourth traffic fatality on Maui this year, compared to 11 at this time last year.
