The U.S. and Hawaii flags fly at half-staff today in front of the Honolulu Circuit Court building in Honolulu.

U.S. and state flags are flying at half-staff Friday in recognition of Peace Officers Memorial Day and Police Week.

President Barack Obama and Gov. David Ige directed all government agencies to fly the American and state flags at half-staff from sunrise to sunset.

Peace Officers Memorial Day honors federal, state and local law enforcement officers who have fallen or been disabled in the line of duty.

It is held in conjunction with Police Week, which is observed May 10 through May 16.
