‘Mindy Project,’ axed by Fox, to find new life on Hulu

NEW YORK » "The Mindy Project" is making the leap from broadcast to streaming video courtesy of Hulu, which has ordered 26 new episodes.

Hulu’s announcement Friday signals a resurrection for the comedy, which had just been canceled by Fox, where it aired for three seasons.

Hulu subscribers will be able to stream past and future episodes of the series exclusively on Hulu, the streaming service said. A premiere date for its season four was not announced.

The single-camera comedy was created by and stars Mindy Kaling as an obstetrician-gynecologist facing comic challenges in both her personal and professional lives. Chris Messina, Ed Weeks and Beth Grant co-star.

"The Mindy Project" joins Hulu original fare that includes the forthcoming "11/22/63" from Stephen King and J.J. Abrams and the Amy Poehler-produced comedy "Difficult People."
