Public Safety: 1 inmate captured, 1 inmate missing

Tasha Gonsalves was reported missing from the 5:30 a.m. headcount.

Prison authorities Tuesday reported one Maui female inmate failed to report for a morning headcount, while another woman inmate missing for nearly a month from the women’s Windward facility was recaptured on Friday.

Maui Community Correctional Center  inmate Tasha Gonsalves was reported missing from the 5:30 a.m. headcount Tuesday.

Gonsalves, 29,  is  5 feet 1 inches, weighs 125 pounds, and has brown hair and brown eyes. 

She was awaiting trial for theft, forgery and fraudulent use of a credit card. Her bail was set a $15,000. 

Meanwhile Woman Community Correctional Center inmate Suncirae Silva, who was reported missing April 26,  was arrested by state sheriffs on Friday and has been returned to the women’s facility. 

Silva failed to return  from her furlough day pass a month ago. 

Silva was serving time for theft.  Her next parole hearing was scheduled for this month.

Gonsalves is the 23rd inmate who failed to return while on furlough from Department of Public Safety facilities. All but four have been recaptured.
