Hikers atop the World War II coastal fortifications known as the Lanikai Pillboxes enjoy a spectacular panorama, including the Mokulua islands just offshore.
Paramedics transported a 74-year-old man to an area hospital in critical condition Sunday afternoon after he collapsed while hiking the Lanikai Pillboxes trail.
Scanner transmissions indicated the man had suffered a cardiac-related event.
An Emergency Medical Services report noted that the man was found unresponsive when paramedics arrived at the scene around 1:20 p.m.
