No tsunami warning after strong quake off Japan
A strong earthquake struck off the coast of Hokkaido, Japan on Sunday evening but did not trigger any tsunami warnings for Hawaii.
The preliminary magnitude 6.2 quake hit at 8:01 p.m. Hawaii time 40 miles east-northeast of Mutsu, Japan, at depth of 27.3 miles, according to the U.S. Geological Survey website.
No injuries were immediately reported.
