UH’s Porlier Langlois 19th in NCAA shot put

Hawaii's Alex Porlier Langlois, the Big West shot put champion, qualified for the national championship after placing ninth at the NCAA West Preliminary meet on June 6 in Texas. The top 12 throwers advanced, and she qualified with a throw of 15.89 meters on her first attempt.

Hawaii junior Alex Porlier Langlois placed 19th in the shot put at Thursday’s NCAA Track and Field Championships in Eugene, Oregon.

Porlier Langlois had a throw of 15.60 meters (51 feet, 2 1/4 inches) during her second attempt of the day. She recorded a throw of 15.32 (50-3 1/4) on her first attempt. She fouled her third and final attempt to conclude her first national championship appearance.

Southern Illinois freshman Raven Saunders won with a throw of 18.35 (60-2 1/2). She was the only thrower to surpass 18 meters.
